London fashion Week 2010 Maria Grachvogel (spring/summer 2011 collection)

The second designer i researched was Maria Grachvogel, her collection was elegant, sophisticated and highly feminine. Her collection consisting of sleek sillouettes and subtle drape  with compliments of minimal sheek. Again the colour pallete was lovely with taupe and mushroom shades, then bursts of canary yellow giving the collection energy and excitment.

London Fashion Week 2010 JENATHEO (spring/summer 2011 collection)

Looking into London fashion Week , I looked at different collections to find a designer that uses drapery in there designs in an interesting and feminine way.

I research two designers one bein JenaTheo. I looked at their spring/summer 11 ready to wear collection , although some elements of the collecton were slightly inconsistent i liked the collection. JenaTheo have a strong drape aesthetic and conbine that with modern ideas/sillouettes.

i loved the colour pallete of the subtle pinks and lilacs against bold purples.

I love this collection, all the garments have a subtle femininty to them, that adds effect to the collection, The inspiration being the elements , the colour pallete muted similar to ideas i would like for my own collection. The subtle and fluid drapery on the garments really highlights her influences .

greek drapery- garment construction

I continued my research on greccian drapery focusing more on the way they constructed their garments rather than the greecian statues. through my research i found that the greecian women wore either a peplos which was then evolved into a chiton .

inspiration and sketches

Based on the information i had already collected. I began sketchin just intial designs down in my sketchbook and produced a mini mood board also.

V &A museum

To gather my primary research, i went on a visit to the V&A museum and photogarphed several statues that had beautiful draping. I thought this would contribute well to my research exploration and perhaps inspire my colour pallete for my garments.

At the beginning

Throughout the summer i brainstormed several ideas and concepts for what i wanted my collection to be based upon. So i picked a few ideas and began collecting images for them and narrowed it down to one idea. So the main inspiration or reference point for my collection will be Ancirnt greek drapery. somrthing i have always found interesting and wanted to explore .

I beagn gathering images of ancient greek statues and exploring the different styles the ancient greeks had when it came to the drapery of there clothing. So i gathered as many images as possible for my secondary research and felt the next step was to gather some primary research of my own .
